The Jubilee Team In Summer Camp Posted June 8, 2020

The Jubilee Team

Ferncliff’s Summer of Jubilee looks different than any summer before. We’ve been working on new ways Ferncliff can support our community and our churches. We are excited about the resources we have come up with so far, like Camp-In-A-Box and Family Time Field TripsFollowing the recent directives and guidance from the Arkansas Department of Health, we are also able to offer Summer of Jubilee Day Camps from July 6th to August 7th. These five sessions of in-person programming are designed with social distancing and other health and safety protocols as our top priority.

As we seek to connect with our campers, provide resources for our community and families, and take care of Ferncliff’s site, we are excited to be joined by a group of young adults who have given their summer to helping see Ferncliff through. The “Jubilee Team” are currently living together at Ferncliff, working behind-the-scenes (and sometimes on camera!) to take care of this place and the people that we love so much. After a few weeks of quarantine, a whole bunch of masks, and some cleverly distanced training, the Jubilee Team is ready to serve Ferncliff and the community in whatever way they can.

Meet the Jubilee Team

Megan Wallace is 26 years old and originally from Malvern, AR. She received her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics at the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, AR. Whether it is card games, board games, tennis, or any sport, Megan loves friendly competition! When she is not playing, she enjoys spending time with family, friends, and all of God’s critters. She also enjoys cooking and had the opportunity to cook for staff and volunteers at Heifer Ranch in Perryville, AR. Megan is ecstatic about being a part of the Jubilee Team and exploring fun, creative solutions for alternative camp outreach and activities!

Sydney Langley is a 20 year old from Tulsa, OK. She is a Journalism major at the University of Oklahoma. In her free time, she enjoys reading, crocheting, and playing with her dogs. Sydney also wishes that she could own an elephant as a pet. Sydney is excited to be a part of this summer’s Jubilee Team because she loves to share her faith and spread camp spirit.

Nandi Musengwa is 23 years old and is from the beautiful sunshine city of St. Petersburg, Florida. She graduated with a degree in Communication, concentration in Public Relations and minor in Spanish from Florida Gulf Coast University. Nandi loves to cook and bake, host dinner parties, soak up the sun at the beach and work on her hand lettering. A fun fact about Nandi is that she holds a French passport and spent the past 2 years living and working in Spain. Nandi is excited for a completely new and unique camp experience, as well as the opportunity to create digital content in the camp setting!

Taylor Sexton is a 21 years old and is originally from Texarkana, Arkansas. He currently attends Baylor University in Waco, Texas, where he studies corporate communications and political science. In his spare time, Taylor likes to run, write music or watch a good documentary. A fun fact about Taylor is that he can play 7 instruments. He is excited to be a part of the Jubilee Team this summer and looks forward to exploring new and creative ways to minister to campers in these unprecedented times.

Jamie Sutula is 20 years old and was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. They are currently studying Multidisciplinary Studies with emphasis in Women’s and Gender Studies, Sustainability, and Creative Writing at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. In their spare time, they like to read, write, hike, spend time outside, play their guitar and violin, write music, and work on creative projects. A fun fact about Jamie is that there is a mural of them made by a local artist on the side of a building in Omaha. This summer, they are excited to join the Jubilee Team, face new challenges and opportunities, learn new things, and explore what “camp” means today!

Claire Gillaspy is 19 years old and is from Conway, Arkansas. She attends Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina where she is studying Mathematics. In her spare time, she loves running, singing, painting, learning the ukulele, and creek walking. A fun fact about Claire is that she can yodel! This summer on the Jubilee Team she is excited to make the most of these trying times at her favorite place and explore God’s boundless love.

Brett Thompson is 19 years old and is from Conway, AR. He is currently studying Computer Science at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, AR. For fun, Brett likes to camp, play different instruments, play video games, and listen to tunes. A fun fact about him is that he was a nerd on the Speech Team in High School, so he can help you with your informative/persuasive speeches. It has been his dream to be on Ferncliff’s staff for years, ever since his first Jr. High Youth Quake, and he is very excited to spend his summer outside in God’s beautiful outdoors!

Erin Tolar is a 26 year old usual resident of Decatur, Georgia. With previous degrees in music and educational research from DePauw and Indiana University, she is now studying at Columbia Theological Seminary in pursuit of Master of Divinity/Master of Arts in Practical Theology degrees with a focus in Educational Ministry.
