About Camp

Specialty Camps

Specialty Camps

How Specialty Camps Are Different from Regular Camp

Specialty camps include everything you love about Ferncliff—friends, outdoor fun, swimming, worship, and time with your cabin “family group”—but with an added focus on a specific interest or experience.

While regular overnight camps offer a wide mix of classic activities, specialty camps go deeper into one theme, skill, or adventure.

What Makes Specialty Camps Unique

  • Theme-based focus: Campers spend extra time on a special activity like leadership, water sports, night adventures, or outdoor skills.
  • Added challenges or adventures: Specialty camps often include unique experiences, off-site trips, or advanced activities regular camp doesn’t offer.
  • Leadership development: Some camps (like Leaders-In-Training) help older campers grow confidence, responsibility, and service skills.
  • Age-specific programs: Specialty camps are designed for older or more experienced campers who want something new beyond the classic camp week.

What Stays the Same

  • Living in cabin family groups
  • Daily Bible study and worship
  • Outdoor activities and play
  • Caring, trained counselors
  • ACA-accredited safety standards
  • Strong Christian community and values

Why three prices?

Recognizing that families have different abilities to pay, Ferncliff has a voluntary fee program. You choose the price that is most suitable for your family. No matter what price you choose, the amenities, activities, and camp experience are the same. It’s a way to make camp more affordable for more families. Tier 1 represents the true cost of camp, Tier 2 is the partially subsidized cost, and Tier 3 is the subsidized cost of camp.
