Ways to support the DAC

Ways to support the DAC

A powerful way to support disaster relief efforts is to volunteer with Ferncliff’s Disaster Assistance Center operations and our partners, Church World Service (CWS) and Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA). Here’s how you can get involved:

1. Donate Funds to Support Disaster Relief

One of the most immediate ways to help after a disaster is to donate directly to Ferncliff’s outreach programs. Your financial support allows us to purchase the supplies to build disaster kits in bulk, ensuring we get the best value and can assemble the kits efficiently. These funds help us prepare and respond quickly to crises. Alternatively, you can donate directly to Presbyterian Disaster Assistance or Church World Service to support their ongoing disaster relief and recovery efforts.

You can ensure your donation will to go towards Ferncliff’s disaster assistance operations by designating it towards “DAC operations” or “Materials for kits.”

2. Host a Kit-Assembly Event or Supply Drive

Organize a kit-assembly event or supply drive with your church, school, or community group. CWS provides step-by-step instructions and supply lists for assembling various disaster relief kits. These events offer a fun and impactful way for your community to work together to support those in need. Completed kits or collected supplies can then be delivered or shipped to Ferncliff’s warehouse to increase our inventory and capacity to respond to requests.

3. Book a Mission Trip or Volunteer at Ferncliff

For a hands-on experience, you can schedule a mission trip or volunteer day at Ferncliff. Volunteers will have the opportunity to work in the Disaster Assistance Center (DAC) to assemble, inspect, and package hygiene kits, school kits, period packs, welcome backpacks, and emergency clean-up buckets. This immersive experience allows groups to actively contribute to disaster preparedness while staying on-site and learning more about Ferncliff’s outreach efforts.

We can accommodate groups for volunteer days or mission trips year-round according to our availability and needs.

4. Get Involved Locally with CWS or Presbyterian Disaster Assistance

If you’d like to make a difference closer to home, explore opportunities with Church World Service (CWS)orPresbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) in your area. These organizations often need volunteers to assist with local disaster response, refugee resettlement, or kit assembly events. Visit their websites to find programs near you and get involved in their vital work.

5. Spread Awareness and Advocate

Raise awareness about the work Ferncliff, CWS, and PDA are doing in your community or online. By sharing their missions or organizing a fundraiser, you can help amplify the impact of these organizations and extend your contribution beyond personal volunteering.

To get started, contact us for more details. Your time, donations, and efforts are crucial in helping us prepare for and respond to crises effectively!
