Hello Friends,
Like many camps around the country, Ferncliff has been adjusting to the uncertainty that the COVID-19 pandemic has created. We give thanks that at this time all our staff are healthy and whole and we continue to work together to find the best path forward.
Please know that you and your family are at the forefront of our thoughts as we consider the options that lay before us. You may or may not be aware of the comments made by the Arkansas Secretary of Health regarding summer camps. To summarize Dr. Nate Smith:
As conditions currently are, and projected to be in the coming weeks, it would be unwise and potentially unsafe to host summer camp programs. Things may change, but for now, the prospect of programs continuing as originally planned, staff training in mid-May and camps beginning in early June, looks very unlikely.
In order to give you and your family time to plan, our leadership is committed to making a decision about summer programming at Ferncliff by May 1st. We look forward to reviewing the forthcoming guidance from the Arkansas Department of Health regarding summer camps. Whatever decision is ultimately made, know that the health and safety of your family- of our campers, guests and staff- is and will remain the most important factor in our decision-making process.
Very soon we will be reaching out to you and other members of our community in a variety of ways so we can learn how Ferncliff can best support your family during this time. For now, we leave you with this simple verse from Psalms:
“The Lord gives his people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace.” – Psalm 29:11
Prayers for strength and peace from Ferncliff to you and yours.
Appreciatively,
Joel Cory Gill, Executive Director
