“The Q” for Arts/Crafts
We have a new building dedicated to children being creative with art. The windows, doors and lighting were donated by Home Depot. The cement floor is strewn with glitter. The three tub sink was repurposed from the old dining hall. The lumber was milled at a local sawmill and the porches give campers outdoor spaces to do their work. It is called “The Q” in honor of Quendy Veatch who gave much to children’s ministry and is daughter of Ferncliff’s founders Bill and Helon Williams.
Improved Accessibility
Ferncliff’s entrance and main road were paved this summer. It has greatly reduced dust, erosion and noise as well as increased our accessibility from lodging to dining hall. An automatic door was added to the dining hall.
Nature Preschool
The former dining hall is now called “the PAC” which stands for Program Activity Center. Most of the preschool furniture was donated or built. It has new doors and a fenced grassy playground. A grant was recently awarded that will replace the carpeting.
Games
Two new gaga pits were purchased, one of which can be easily transported for the Camp2You program. An additional Nine Square in the Air game was purchased with a Glow in the Dark option for indoor use.
