Update: We just received a promise of a matching gift of $2,000 if we can raise just $725 more before this weekend’s race! Help us get this $2,000!
Hello Friends,
In just a few days I am attempting to run 100 miles and raise $5,000 to help Ferncliff install more solar power around camp. With your support hopefully I can reach my personal goal and help Ferncliff produce more of its energy from the sun at the same time. You can pledge $.25 or $1 per mile. Any pledge you could make would give me motivation to keep going when I get up there in miles. Thanks to those that have already chipped in to motivate me. We’ve raised just over $1,000 but need more folks to help out to reach my goal. No contribution it too small and each one will give me the motivation I need to finish. I’ll really appreciate it!

Help power me along in my “Run for the Sun” as I look to raise funds to help Ferncliff power its camp programs with the solar power! On October 4th and 5th I will be attempting to run 100 miles through the Ouachita Mountains as I participate in the Arkansas Traveler, one of the oldest 100 mile endurance runs in the country. If you could pledge .50 or $1 a mile that would be awesome. It will lift my spirits through this last month of training and hopefully give me the encouragement I’ll need in the late stages of the race. And better yet, it will allow Ferncliff to invest in solar power and reduce its environmental footprint.
I have a goal to run 100 miles. I expect it to take me around 26 hours to complete. Ferncliff has a goal to be one of the most sustainable and environmentally friendly camps in the country! I’d love to be able to nudge them in that direction. With your support my personal goal and Ferncliff’s organizational goal can be achieved at the same time!
If we are able to raise the funds and I am able to run the 100 miles, Ferncliff will install a solar power generating system on the Christian Activity Building right in the heart of our youth camp. This will help the camp reduce its environmental footprint, save money in the long run, but more importantly, all the campers that come here will see solar power being produced and used and hopefully that will reinforce the importance of seeking out sustainable forms of energy for our future. If we are able to raise these funds who knows how many kids we will be inspired to care for the creation?
If you’re a numbers person and like to see an investment pay off check out these numbers. If I am able to complete the 100 mile run and we are able to power the CAB with the solar array, Ferncliff estimates that it will be able to pay off our investment in less than 3 years with savings on utility bills! Over the next 22 years Ferncliff could save $50,000 while also reducing its environmental footprint. Wow!
Thank you for your support as I try to complete my run for the sun to benefit Ferncliff camp!
