Ferncliff to Launch Little Rock Chapter of Sleep In Heavenly Peace Fall 2024 In Outreach, Support Posted March 13, 2024

Ferncliff to Launch Little Rock Chapter of Sleep In Heavenly Peace Fall 2024

We are excited to share that we are launching a local chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace, right here at Ferncliff.

Sleep In Heavenly Peace (SHP) is working to ensure that every child has a safe and comfortable place to rest their head at night. With a mission that’s as simple as it is profound – “no kid sleeps on the floor in our town” – SHP has been transforming communities and lives by building and providing beds to children since 2012.

Despite progress in many areas, the stark reality is that millions of children across the country still lack a proper bed to sleep in. According to ongoing research, approximately 3% of the total population of children are sleeping on the floor, on couches, or in uncomfortable situations.

In Arkansas alone, nearly 91,000 children are currently sleeping on the floor or couches. In the Little Rock metro area, over 22,000 kids don’t have a bed to call their own. The demand for SHP’s services is evident, with hundreds of families in the area applying for beds each month. “When we learned that there were so many kids without beds in our community we wanted to do something about it,” said Ferncliff Executive Director Joel Gill. “We are partnering with Ozark Mission Project (OMP) to start the local chapter in Little Rock.”

What Now?

As we prepare to launch the Little Rock chapter in the fall, we are raising the $31,000 needed to start our chapter and build the first 100 beds. Please consider making a donation here.
