Ferncliff Disaster Assistance Center Receives Over 2,300 Kits from Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church
We are thrilled to announce that Ferncliff Disaster Assistance Center recently received a generous shipment of 2,321 kits—totaling over 5,500 pounds—from Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. As a Church World Service (CWS) depot, Good Shepherd plays a vital role in disaster relief by not only assembling kits as a congregation but also receiving supplies from other sites.
This recent shipment was a true community effort, with contributions from nine churches across 2023 and 2024. These include Good Shepherd Presbyterian church (Lincoln, NE), First Presbyterian Church (Bellevue, NE), Westminster Presbyterian Church (Lincoln, NE), Heritage Presbyterian Church (Lincoln, NE), First Presbyterian Church (Manhattan, KS), First Presbyterian Church (Wahoo, NE), First Congregational UCC (Hastings, NE), First Presbyterian Church (Lincoln, NE), and Altamont Baptist Church (Harlan, IA).
The kits included a range of essential supplies: school kits, hygiene kits, a small number of emergency clean-up buckets, period packs, and welcome backpacks. These items will be stored in our warehouse and distributed to those in need during times of crisis.
Good Shepherd’s ongoing partnership with Ferncliff ensures that we are prepared to respond swiftly when disaster strikes. Their dedication to collecting and coordinating these much-needed supplies exemplifies the power of collaboration and compassion in action.
We are deeply grateful for the continued support from Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church and all the churches involved in this effort. Together, we are making a real difference in the lives of those facing hardship.
Thank you to our donors for making this important work possible!
