We are thrilled to share some exciting news: Ferncliff has been awarded a $300,000 matching grant from the Arkansas Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Division to support our Stream Restoration Project, a cornerstone of our $7.6 million Connect. Inspire. Transform. Capital Campaign.
This generous grant, part of the federal EPA’s NPS 319 program, will help fund a portion of Ferncliff’s $1.9 million effort to restore Ferndale Creek and improve the overall health of the Lower Maumelle Watershed, which spans Pulaski, Perry, and Saline Counties.
This restoration is a key part of our Connect. Inspire. Transform. Capital Campaign, which has already reached 80% of its goal through the generosity of friends like you. With the support of this new grant, gifts toward the project will be matched dollar for dollar—stretching every contribution twice as far.

Why Stream Restoration Matters
Unlike pollution from factories or wastewater plants, much of today’s water pollution comes from what is called “nonpoint source pollution.” When rain or snowmelt runs across fields, pavement, and rooftops, it carries pollutants into rivers, lakes, wetlands, and groundwater. Over time, this damages ecosystems, reduces water quality, and harms both people and wildlife.
At Ferncliff, we believe caring for Creation is part of our calling. Restoring Ferndale Creek is one way we are living out this mission. The project will:
- Remove an outdated dam and restore the creek’s natural flow
- Improve water quality for communities downstream
- Restore aquatic and riparian habitat for fish, birds, and other wildlife
- Enhance natural flood control during heavy rains
- Provide educational opportunities for campers, school groups, and volunteers through partnerships with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and others
More Than a Project—A Calling
As Executive Director Joel Gill explains:
“The stream restoration is a vital part of our Transform Capital Campaign, but more importantly, it reflects our deep commitment to Creation care and our community. Thousands of campers, retreat guests, and disaster relief volunteers come to Ferncliff each year, and this project ensures they see firsthand how Arkansas is investing in the health of its waterways and environment.”

Psalm 24:1 reminds us: “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.”
At Ferncliff, we take this to heart. This restoration is more than an environmental project, it is a faithful response to God’s call to steward the land entrusted to us.
How You Can Be Part of It
With this matching grant, every gift toward the Stream Restoration Project will be doubled, up to $300,000.
That means your support will stretch twice as far in restoring clean water, healthy habitats, and a thriving ecosystem at Ferncliff.
Now we are calling on bold partners to make gifts and pledges to complete this campaign. Give to double your impact>>
Together, we are ensuring that future generations of campers, families, and volunteers experience a Ferncliff where creation thrives and inspires.
