Communities Unite: Support Pours in from Surrounding States for Disaster Assistance Center

Carl Clark and Craig Gibson of Heartland Presbytery in Missouri unload relief buckets.

Ferncliff’s Disaster Assistance Center has been blessed with incredible support from congregations in Tennessee, Missouri, and Kansas over the past week! Thanks to generous donations from multiple churches and dedicated volunteers, we have received over 5,000 pounds of relief supplies for those recovering from disasters.

On November 1, members of Farmington Presbyterian Church in Germantown, Tennessee, led by Pastor Rebecca Luter, delivered 45 relief buckets. Cooper Patterson and Jerry Hosier brought the donation directly to Ferncliff and stayed to help us unload, showcasing their community’s spirit of service.

A few days later, on November 4, we received an impressive delivery from churches in the Heartland Presbytery in Missouri. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of Carl Clark and Craig Gibson, Ferncliff received 1,230 pounds of supplies, including 57 buckets, school kits, hygiene kits, and period packs. These essential items will make a real difference for those in need.

Emporia Presbyterian Church in Kansas contributed on November 5, with 12 relief buckets and a generous monetary donation. Volunteers Lois and Richard Schrock personally delivered the donation, organized by Rev. Phyl Stutzman, underscoring their church’s commitment to helping others.

Grant Spieth from Jon Calvin Presbytery in Missouri unloads relief buckets.

Then, on November 7, Toni and Grant Spieth from John Calvin Presbytery in Missouri delivered an impressive 157 buckets to the Disaster Assistance Center. The supplies were the combined effort of at least 10 churches within their presbytery, and Toni and Grant stayed to help us unload, adding a personal touch to their impactful delivery.

Want to assist in this ministry? We are grateful for the funds to purchase additional supplies and for volunteer groups to help inspect these buckets. Donate here (make sure to add DAC to the gift instructions) or contact Emily Hooker to schedule service time. Your support helps ensure that we can continue providing vital relief to those in crisis.

Thank you to everyone involved for embodying compassion and community. Your contributions allow us to extend care and hope where it’s needed most.
