9.3 - November

November – A month of New Experiences.

November has been an action packed month. I was able to attend the Side by Side conference and meet many new people. Over the Thanksgiving Holiday, I was able to travel and west Arkansas. In the office, I have been able to work with a new program called Ultra Camp. I have to say it has been an amazing month.

At the Side by Side conference, I was able to meet all the people that a little bird told me to meet.  I figured out it works best for me to sit at the table of the intended people. The best way to do this for me was to go to meals early grab some lemonade and tea, wait until the desired person picked a spot, use said drink and note pad to reserve my seat, grab food, and achieve goal. I was even fortunate enough to have a sit down with the directors of Kintail (a Canadian camp) before they left (Thank you again!). Another cool thing that happened is that I was able to meet some “niche-famous” people. These are people who I have heard on a podcast called CampHacker (yes, I was a bit starstruck).

During Thanksgiving I went with my adventure companion, to Hot Springs National Park where we camped and hiked some trails and walked through a couple of bathhouses. Then we headed up to the Ozarks by way of Mt. Magazine and hit the highest point in AR! Needless to say we took several pictures and I may be kissing the geographic marker. In the Ozarks, we camped and hiked. We did some of the Highland trail, found a couple of waterfalls, and even hit an old four wheel path that did not get us to our goal. It was loads of fun.

In the coming weeks – More UltraCamp, decorating of the house, and  more of the random events that happen when you work at camp #hugachicken.
