It’s hard to believe that Spring Break Day Camp has already come and gone! This year we served a total of 28 campers between our Monday-Wednesday, Wednesday-Friday, and full week options. This was our second year to offer a spring break day camp, and we’re happy to report a 27% increase in registrations over last year. Woo hoo!

Thankfully, we had great weather that allowed us to be outside exploring and having fun nearly all of the time. In addition to classic camp activities like fishing, boating, hiking, bouldering, archery, crafting, and shady chuting, our campers also got to make disaster kits in the DAC and learn about creation care in the garden. I love that we are able to put our mission into motion with all of our camp programs, even outside of the summer camping season. ![]()
Our theme for the week was “Fruits of the Spirit.” During morning celebration and bible study, we learned about the spiritual fruits listed in Galatians 5:22-23: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Each spiritual fruit was assigned an actual fruit to make them easier to remember. For example, strawberries were for love because they are heart-shaped. Throughout the week we studied bibles stories that portray each of these virtues and discussed how we can exhibit them in our daily lives.
We’re thankful to have summer staff that are willing to spend their spring break serving as counselors. We’d like to give a special thanks to Rachel and Grace for coming to help us out! They both served on staff last summer and we are jubilant to have them back this coming summer. The program was also staffed by our wonderful intern, Scott, and myself.
Lastly, we’d like to thank all the families who sent their kids to Spring Break Day Camp who helped make this week a great success! As a precursor to our summer programs, this week makes us look forward to all the fun, faith, and growth that is to come this summer. Summer 2017 will be the best summer yet and we hope you’ll join us! Click here to register!
