Easter-In-A-Basket

**We’ve only got a few boxes left! Digital options also available – ORDER HERE**

Check out Easter-in-a-Basket! The Ferncliff Easter-in-a-Basket will provide a week-long experience from Palm Sunday through Holy Week to Easter, diving into the stories that prepare us for Easter.

Easter-in-a-Basket will hold 8 mini lessons, one for each day from Palm Sunday to Easter. These Holy Week activities will be low stress for busy folks, encourage family and community connection, and help you prepare for Easter! Over the course of the week, you will be creating your own Easter basket to help you celebrate Christ’s resurrection on Easter!

As we hold to the light at the end of the tunnel of this pandemic as vaccines begin to be distributed, we know that we’ll need a little bit longer to get there. Easter-in-a-Basket offers a meaningful and fun Holy Week and Easter experience even while we’re unable to gather together at churches and with extended families. Easter-in-a-Basket provides an opportunity to connect the Easter story at the roots of our faith with the times we’re living in now.

What’s in Easter-In-A-Basket?

Each Easter-in-a-Basket box comes with 8 sections of activities and supplies – one for each day starting on Palm Sunday and ending with Easter. Each section will include a mini lesson with a scripture story, reflection questions, and a prayer. In addition, each section will have a few activities that connect to the scripture and theme, such as games, recipes, crafts, service activities, and Holy Week traditions from around the world.

Each Easter-in-a-Basket box will include a guidebook to walk you through the week, as well as the supplies needed for the activities! You’ll also get to make your own Easter basket step-by-step throughout the week. Recognizing that these are busy times, these activities are meant to be easily woven into your busy days. What a great way to get ready for Easter at home!

Who should receive an Easter-In-A-Basket?

Easter-in-a-Basket is designed to be intergenerational. Activities are appropriate for families with children or youth, and many activities would work well when done together as a family. However, there will always be an option for folks living on their own – whether that’s folks engaging independently, or grandparents connecting with grandkids from a distance. Scripture reflection questions will cover various levels, some relatable even for younger children and others offering deeper reflection for mature disciples. (Note that the supplies in the box will provide for one of each activity – for example, there will be materials to make one cross craft – so you might want to order a box for each sibling!)

Easter-in-a-Basket would be great for anyone who wants to experience Holy Week in a new way. Easter-in-a-Basket could be great for Sunday School classes separated, youth ready to dive deeper, or seniors living in assisted living facilities.

How much does it cost?

Recognizing that organizations have varying financial resources, Ferncliff is offering a voluntary three-tier fee program. Your organization may choose the tier that is most suitable for you.  All Easter-in-a-Basket boxes will include the same contents no matter what tier you choose. As a ministry making it’s way through a pandemic, know that higher tier pricing goes farther to support the greater ministry of Ferncliff. The costs PER BOX are as follows:

Tier I is a subsidized rate that does not reflect the full cost of an Easter-in-a-Basket. Tier II is a partially subsidized rate for those who are able to pay a little more. Tier III more closely reflects the actual cost of Easter-in-a-Basket, including staffing and production. The proceeds from this program help sustain the ministries of Ferncliff.

The cost of shipping and handling are additional PER BOX fees and will depend on location – $7/box for locations within 350 miles from Little Rock, Arkansas, and up to $15/box for locations over 350 miles away from Little Rock, Arkansas.

I’m in! How do I purchase?

Families, churches, and organizations can order boxes through our Camp Store. After we receive your payment, we will be in touch regarding the pick-up or shipment of your boxes.

Easter-in-a-Basket Camp Collective

In the midst of uncertainty in our world, we find new opportunities for friends to work together!  Easter-in-a-Basket, created by Ferncliff Camp, is also being put together by three other camps. Camp Fellowship in South Carolina, Pyoca in Indiana, and Camp Kintail in Ontario will also be providing Easter-in-a-Basket for communities near them. Through this ministry, we are seeking to support each other and accomplish more working together than we could separately.

Frequently Asked Questions

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE THE BOXES?

Boxes will ship before March 20th so that they can arrive at their destination in time for Palm Sunday – March 28th. We’ll send you a tracking number when we ship your boxes so you’ll know when to expect them.

If you choose to pick up your boxes at Ferncliff, you will be sent information about where and when to pick those up. Look out for that email!

DO YOU ORDER ONE BOX PER CHILD OR ONE BOX PER FAMILY?

These boxes are packed with materials and instructions for one person or family unit. Some activities are designed to be done with others – however if you’d like supplies for more than one person, we suggest each person receiving their own box. For example, there will be materials to make one cross craft – so you might want to order a box for each sibling!

CAN WE ADD TO THE BOXES?

We found with our summer Camp-In-A-Box and our Advent-in-a-Box that many churches offered additional virtual/online content that enhanced the boxed experience – and they loved it! We imagine that churches could build off the Easter-in-a-Basket scriptures and activities for virtual worship or church-specific activities. To this end, we will be providing a digital copy of the guidebook to every person who places an order.

As an added bonus, if your church is ordering 10 or more boxes and would like to add a letter, we’d be happy to put those in before we seal the boxes. Email jocelyn@ferncliff.org after you order if you’d like to add something to your church’s boxes.

WE’RE NOT PART OF A CHURCH. CAN I ORDER A BOX INDIVIDUALLY FOR MY FAMILY OR MYSELF?

Yes, you can! Order here now!

OUR CHURCH ISN’T PRESBYTERIAN. CAN WE STILL ORDER BOXES?

Absolutely! Ferncliff serves campers and guests from many different denominations, including some who do not have a faith tradition. This resource is intentionally ecumenical and anyone is welcome to take advantage of this opportunity.

DOES THIS BOX FOLLOW LECTIONARY?

The scriptures for Easter-in-a-Basket do not follow lectionary, though the passages are often found in the lectionary passages for Holy Week and Easter. To view the Easter-in-A-Basket Scope and Sequence, click here.

CAN OUR CHURCH SPONSOR BOXES FOR FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS OUTSIDE OF OUR CONGREGATION?

Yes! Some churches may not have lots of children in the pews, but may have funds available to support children and family ministry nonetheless. Other churches may have partnerships with assisted living facilities and want to sponsor boxes for folks there.  Churches can sponsor boxes to a specific organization, to families in their community who do not attend their church, or even camper families identified by Ferncliff. If this sounds like your congregation, you can fill out the form and the Ferncliff staff will help direct your gift to provide boxes to appropriate families.

Can I purchase just the Guidebook and put together boxes on my own?

We are now making available options to download the guidebook digitally, or to buy just the Guidebooks and specialty items. Learn more here!
